Description
CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE (CCT)
INCI Name: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
Common Name: CCT / MCT
Ingredient Type: Emollient / Carrier / Dispersing Medium
Appearance: Clear, colorless to pale-yellow oily liquid
Odor: Typically mild or nearly odorless
Solubility: Insoluble in water; oil soluble
Typical Use Level: approximately 1–20%, depending on application and supplier recommendations
Processing: Oil phase; generally suitable for hot or cold processing where the overall formulation permits
Important chemical identity note: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a mixture of triglycerides derived mainly from caprylic (C8) and capric (C10) fatty acids. Therefore, I recommend that WCS639 does not display one molecular formula, one molecular weight, or one single molecular structure for CCT. We should use your supplier’s COA/TDS for grade-specific specifications.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a versatile liquid emollient widely used in cosmetic and personal-care formulations. It provides excellent spreadability and contributes a smooth, silky and lightweight sensory profile.
CCT is commonly incorporated into creams, lotions, facial oils, serums, balms and other oil-containing formulations. It can also function as a carrier or dispersing medium for suitable oil-soluble ingredients.
FUNCTIONS & BENEFITS
• Provides lightweight emollience
• Improves spreadability
• Helps create a smooth and silky skin feel
• Helps reduce an excessively heavy or greasy sensory profile
• Functions as an oil-phase carrier
• Useful as a dispersing medium for compatible ingredients
• Supports creams and lotion sensory performance

FORMULATION & PROCESSING

For emulsions, incorporate CCT into the oil phase before emulsification. Processing conditions should be selected according to the complete formulation rather than CCT alone.
COMPATIBILITY
Commonly used alongside:
Cetearyl Alcohol • Cetyl Alcohol • Glyceryl Stearate • E-Wax NF • Dimethicone • Cosmetic oils • Oil-soluble actives • Esters • Waxes
Final compatibility and stability must be confirmed in the finished formulation.
